SPC and laminate are the two floors we quote most often for apartments. They look similar once laid, but they are built very differently.
The core is the difference
Laminate has a high-density fibreboard core. It is warm and solid underfoot, but standing water can make the edges swell. SPC has a stone and PVC core that does not absorb water at all.
Choose SPC when
- The room is a kitchen, bathroom or laundry
- You have pets or young children
- You want to lay it over existing tiles
Choose laminate when
- It is a bedroom or living room
- You want the most natural wood texture for the budget
- You prefer a warmer, softer feel
Not sure? Ask for both samples at your site visit and compare them side by side in the room.
